Somatostatin Receptor Scintigraphy Findings in a Patient with Metastatic Gastrinoma and MEN 1 Syndrome

چکیده
UNLABELLED Liver metastases from neuroendocrine tumours frequently occur and significantly worsen their prognosis. Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy (SRS) is a valuable method for the detection of somatostatin receptor-positive lesions like gastrinoma. In this case report, the importance of SRS to localize the primary tumor and the spread of disease is emphasized in a patient with neuroendocrine liver metastases. A 45-year-old man was admitted to hospital with multiple liver metastasis of neuroendocrine carcinoma. Somatostatin receptor scintigraphy showed multiple intense radiotracer uptakes in the liver and a focal tracer uptake at the right side of the upper abdominal region corresponding to duodenum or pancreas. Elevated serum gastrin levels confirmed the gastrinoma diagnosis. CONFLICT OF INTEREST None declared.

Preliminary report on somatostatin receptor imaging in rare endocrine tumours.
Our preliminary experience of Somatostatin Receptor Positive Tumour Scintigraphy (SRPTS) in the management of some rare neuroendocrine tumours is highlighted. Six patients were evaluated using SRPTS. A single patient each with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, recurrent medullary carcinoma of thyroid and Stage IV neuroblastoma. Two patients with phaeochromocytoma, and one patient with suspected insul...
متن کاملA Case of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1 with Primary Liver Gastrinoma
Gastrinoma is the most frequent functional pancreaticoduodenal endocrine tumor in patients with multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN 1). Primary hepatic gastrinomas in MEN 1 are very rare, with no previous reports published in the literature. We reported the case of a 39 yr old female patient with a history of repeated peptic ulcers and a hypoglycemia episode. Abdominal CT indicated a well-...
متن کاملZollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A Rare Case of Chronic Diarrhea
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) is caused by hypersecretion of gastrin from duodenal or pancreatic gastrinomas. We report a case of a 57-year-old female who presented with chronic diarrhea. CT abdomen showed multiple liver masses. Liver biopsy suggested metastatic well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor. Serum gastrin level was markedly elevated. MRI abdomen, somatostatin receptor scintigraph...

We present the case of a 60-year-old man with metastatic neuroendocrine tumor of the ileum following ileal resection, being evaluated for 177Lu-based peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. 68Ga-DOTANOC PET/CT showed focal increased tracer uptake in the scrotal region without any morphologic changes on the corresponding CT images. Similar increased tracer uptake was seen on...

The high expression of somatostatin receptors in many tumours, have made receptor scintigraphy with 111In-DTPA-Octreotide a widly used procedure in nuclear medicine. Despite its clinical success, some limitation and drawbacks of radiolabelling with 111In remain, especially those concerned with the cost, availability and physical decay properties of this radionuclide. 99mTc-EDDA/HYNIC-Tyr3...
